A Rare Art Deco French Black Glass Vase with Silvered Fish by Hem

A rare and strikingly large 1930s Bohemian black glass vase, beautifully decorated by Michel Herman with an elegant fish motif. The deep black glass provides a dramatic ground for the finely applied silver decoration, where stylised fish glide across the surface with fluid movement and Art Deco character. Pieces of this scale and presence are seldom found, particularly with such strong visual impact. The glass itself is in perfect condition. There is light, expected wear to the delicate silver decoration, consistent with age and the nature of this fragile finish.
